Express Half Marathon Training

Wait a second, race day is WHEN??

If you're short on time to train for your half marathon, use this eight week program to get ready for your half marathon ASAP. We will build endurance by increasing the long run every week, work on speed through intervals and tempo runs, and cover good training habits that will help you in your race.

Plus, Coach Shane will be there to support you throughout training, answer any questions you have, and modify your plan if needed.

The Express Half program includes:

  • One on one text support from certified running coach Shane Williams every week for questions, support, and accountability during your training. 

  • An 8 week training program of 5 workouts per week, including easy runs, speed work, long runs, and cross training

  • Weekly emails from your coach about what you'll be doing and why

  • Live workshops and Coach office hours to ask questions and prepare for what's ahead

  • The Bird app to follow the training plan, track your progress, and communicate with your coach and team

Who should join:

Anyone with a half marathon that's 8 weeks away! This plan is appropriate for runners at all levels and paces. All workouts are effort-based and can be modified for run/walk intervals.

Please note, this plan starts with a long run of 7 miles in week one. You should be comfortable running or run/walking four days a week and up to 7 miles (even if it's slow!) at the beginning of the plan.

The regular text check-ins and weekly virtual happy hours were the accountability that I was looking for and demonstrated that the coaches really cared about helping you get to where you wanted to be in the program.
Years ago, I used to participate (run/walk) in 5ks to half marathons, but it’s been at least 5 years since my last one. I joined the Bird Running Group to help motivate me and to have some accountability to get moving again. The January run club was the perfect fit! All the coaches were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! The guidance and weekly run plans were clear and provided you with specific instructions for beginners, intermediates, and experts. I was impressed and excited at how far I’d come from the beginning to the end of the program!
