Bird is excited to partner with the EDP Lisbon Marathon to bring you a coached training program to run your best race on October 9th!

Join the Lisbon Marathon team and train with the support of a Portugese speaking running coach and motivation from your teammates. We'll be building endurance and speed together, meeting for bilingual online workshops, and keeping each other motivated all summer long.

The team kicks off on June 6th, get your spot now and start training with us!

The Lisbon Marathon team includes:

  • An 18 week marathon training program of 5-6 workouts per week, including easy runs, speed work, long runs, and cross training. All running workouts can be modified for your current fitness.

  • One on one SMS support from Coach Raquel Neto for answers to all of your training questions, in Portuguese or English.

  • Weekly emails from your coach about what you'll be doing and why.

  • One on one phone calls with Coach Raquel to discuss your progress and customize your training.

  • Team kickoff and pre-race calls with Coach Raquel, as well as monthly workshops in Portuguese and English.

  • A team chat group for high fives, training questions, and bonus motivation.

  • The Bird app to follow the training plan, track your progress, and communicate with your coach and team.

Who should join:

Beginner and intermediate runners looking to increase endurance, speed and confidence for race day. This plan is appropriate for runners training for their first marathon, or looking to improve their time. All workouts are effort-based and can be modified for run/walk intervals. Coach Raquel can modify your plan for more advanced training

Please note, this plan starts with a long run of 10 km in week one. You should be comfortable running or run/walking four days a week and up to 10 km (even if it's slow!) at the beginning of the plan.

I love the fact that I get a text in the evening if I haven't run. So many days that's the little push I need to get out the door!
“I have really enjoyed Bird! It's a small thing, but I love the fact that I get a text in the evening if I haven't run. So many days that's the little push I need to get out the door! I also really enjoy the community aspect. I actually thought about the fact that I was going to update my group in Bird after my last race.”

The regular text check-ins and weekly virtual happy hours were the accountability that I was looking for and demonstrated that the coaches really cared about helping you get to where you wanted to be in the program.
Years ago, I used to participate (run/walk) in 5ks to half marathons, but it’s been at least 5 years since my last one. I joined the Bird Running Group to help motivate me and to have some accountability to get moving again. The January run club was the perfect fit! All the coaches were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! The guidance and weekly run plans were clear and provided you with specific instructions for beginners, intermediates, and experts. I was impressed and excited at how far I’d come from the beginning to the end of the program! The regular text check-ins and weekly virtual happy hours were the accountability that I was looking for and demonstrated that the coaches really cared about helping you get to where you wanted to be in the program. I can’t wait to sign up for more of the Bird programs!
