Ready to dust the cobwebs off those running shoes and kick off the running season? Us too!

Join us for four weeks of snappy speed workouts to get those legs moving again. We'll be practicing intervals, tempos, and fartleks to remind ourselves what quick turnover feels like, and learning how to integrate speedwork into training all year long.

If you're new to running or to speed work, don't worry. All running workouts will have beginner, intermediate and advanced options and can be done using the run/walk method. We like to focus on perceived exertion instead of pace per mile here, so your speed is always unique to you and your fitness level.

The Spring Speed Squad includes:

  • A free four week training program of four runs a week, including two light speed sessions, one day of cross training, and two days of rest.

  • Weekly emails from Coach Layne about what we're doing and why

  • A live team workshop on Speedwork 101 with Coach Layne on April 28th to learn how to use different types of speed work in your training.

  • A chat group with the team to share workouts, ask questions and get high fives.

Who should join: 

Everyone! We at Bird believe that runners at all levels benefit from incorporating speed into training. Again, every workout can be done at your level and distances can be modified for where you're at today. Join the team and mix up your routine!

The regular text check-ins and weekly virtual happy hours were the accountability that I was looking for and demonstrated that the coaches really cared about helping you get to where you wanted to be in the program.
Years ago, I used to participate (run/walk) in 5ks to half marathons, but it’s been at least 5 years since my last one. I joined the Bird Running Group to help motivate me and to have some accountability to get moving again. The January run club was the perfect fit! All the coaches were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! The guidance and weekly run plans were clear and provided you with specific instructions for beginners, intermediates, and experts. I was impressed and excited at how far I’d come from the beginning to the end of the program!
