Trail running sounds cool, but do I have to run 100 miles? Do I need special gear? What if I get stuck in the mud?

If you're curious about trail running but not sure how to start, join our resident trail running expert Coach Shane for four weeks to learn the basics, develop trail skills, and build confidence running off road.

What we'll cover:

  • Week One: What to know about trail running

  • Week Two: Gear you need (and don't need)

  • Week Three: Pacing on trail runs

  • Week Four: Trail etiquette

What's included:

  • A free four week trail training program in the Bird app

  • Weekly emails with four video episodes of "So you want to be a trail runner!" from Coach Shane to help you build trail running skills

  • A group chat with other trail runners and Coach Shane to ask questions, share tips, and high five.

  • The option to work with Shane for one on one coaching.

Who should join:

Don't worry, this is not an ultramarathon program! Beginner and intermediate runners of all abilities are welcome to join. We will be doing three runs and two short strength and agility workouts each week. The runs start at 2-3 miles in week one and can be done at your own pace or with run/walk intervals.

The regular text check-ins and weekly virtual happy hours were the accountability that I was looking for and demonstrated that the coaches really cared about helping you get to where you wanted to be in the program.
Years ago, I used to participate (run/walk) in 5ks to half marathons, but it’s been at least 5 years since my last one. I joined the Bird Running Group to help motivate me and to have some accountability to get moving again. The January run club was the perfect fit! All the coaches were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! The guidance and weekly run plans were clear and provided you with specific instructions for beginners, intermediates, and experts. I was impressed and excited at how far I’d come from the beginning to the end of the program!
